Skills Group for Parents/Kids

Hello Ocean County Community,

Spring is ALMOST here, and we all know what that means! BIRDS!

We are SO excited to announce that Ocean Partnership for Children’s Birds of a Feather group will be running this spring and is open to the community at no cost. Birds of a Feather is an 6-week (maybe 8 week depending on interest) psycho-educational support group designed to help strengthen the bond between our youth and their caregiver (parent, grandparent, sibling 18+, aunt/uncle, etc.)

See the attached flyer for all the details including registration. A couple of important points:

·         This highly interactive group will have participants spending time with each other, in nature, learning about birds (all things proven to be mood boosting and good for us).

·         Age for youths is between 8-12, but if you have a youth outside that range that you think is a good fit, we can discuss. Our philosophy is the more the merrier!

·         We wanted to make this as appealing, accessible and sustainable as possible. Hence, yoga mats and binoculars to keep, lunch is included, and Saturday morning meet ups. Help with transportation is also available.

·         Space is limited and we are on a tight time schedule. Registration for group closes on March 25th. Give some thought to youths that might be a good fit and discuss with their caregiver to confirm interest. Once confirmed, please send them the attached flyer and let them know registration is completed via the QR code. They will then be linked to the forms we need completed.

·         Please contact Maureen DeSantis with any questions. mdesantis@oceanpartnership.org
